There has been a great uproar in the SEO world today with news from people that Google just stopped using its pagerank feature. I was a little surprised when I checked in to Twitter and Facebook today with all the news that bombarded my Timeline about Google stopping pagerank. I decided to check this to see if it is another rumor only to discover that the pagerank of my dick blick coupon and istockphoto discount blog isn’t displaying at all. I tried using a couple more tools and checking some of my favorite blogs online only to notice they have the same problem. What could be wrong?
I started reading the topics on webmaster forums and I also used the internet to do a little bit of research only to eventually come up with a solution to the problem. The problem isn’t actually Google stopping its pagerank feature; it is with some changes Google made on how pagerank works. Google pagerank is still working fine, and no pagerank update has occurred recently. The only problem is that a change just occurred in which query URL Google uses to show people the external pagerank of other sites and as a result a lot of old tools that rely on the old query URL aren’t working.
How You Can Check Your Google Pagerank Now
If you noticed the problem with pagerank not displaying today and are actually looking for a way to check your website pagerank then it is completely possible. All you need to do is install the latest version of the Google toolbar on your Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer browser and then use the Google pagerank checker feature provided with it to check what your real Google pagerank is.
You should be expecting most of these tools you use to start showing the Google pagerank actively later this week. But in the meantime, here’s what I think about the Google pagerank below.
What I think about Google Pagerank
There has been a lot of controversy about the Google Pagerank feature for years now and a lot of people think it is completely irrelevant. In my own opinion I think the Google pagerank is still a great metric to know which website is okay and which one is not. While the Google pagerank isn’t always accurate, there isn’t any tool in the world today that is completely accurate. I think what the Google pagerank does is give us an idea of how Google sees a website, and the pagerank feature alone should not be relied on.
